Iran comes 14th at 2024 Paralympic Games
PARIS – Iran’s 64-spoertperson delegation finished in 14th place in the 2024 Paralympic Games.
The Paralympics 2024 came to a close with a glittering ceremony that took place at the Stade de France.
Rain pelted down but did not dampen the spirits as all 169 delegations paraded to the tune of French classics.
The Iranian athletes won eight gold medals, 10 silvers and seven bronzes in the Games in Paris.
Sareh Javanmardi earned Iran’s first gold at shooting (P2 – Women's 10 meter air pistol SH1).
Iran claimed three gold medals in Athletic. Amirhossein Alipour Darbeid won a gold at Men's Shot put F1. Saeid Afrooz collected a gold at Men's Javelin throw F34 and Yasin Khosravi seized the third gold at Men's Shot put F57.
Iranian powerlifters also won three gold medals. Rouhollah Rostami at Men's 80kg, Aliakbar Gharibshahi at Men’s 107kg and Ahmad Aminzadeh at Men’s +107kg claimed three golds.
Iran’s men’s sitting volleyball also won a gold medal.
Zahra Rahimi won a silver at Taekwondo Women's 52 kg. Parastoo Habibi bagged a silver at Athletics Women's Club throw F32. Zafar Zaker claimed a silver at Athletics Men's Shot put F55. Fatemeh Hemmati won a silver at Archery Women's individual compound open. Fatemeh Hemmati and Hadi Nori also took a silver at Archery Team compound. Mahdi Olad snatched a silver at Athletics Men's Shot put F11. Hajar Safarzadeh earned a silver at Athletics Women's 400 m T12. Hassan Bajoulvand claimed a silver at Athletics Men's Discus Throw F11. Meysam Banitaba bagged a silver at Judo Men's -60 kg J1. And Ali Pirouj claimed a silver at Athletics Men's Javelin throw F13.
Alireza Bakht won a bronze at Taekwondo Men's 80 kg. Hamed Haghshenas collected a bronze at Taekwondo Men's +80 kg. Alireza Mokhtari snatched a silver at Athletics Men's Shot put F53.
Mohammadreza Arab Ameri took a bronze at Archery Men's Individual Recurve. Mohsen Bakhtiar snatched a bronze at Powerlifting Men's 59kg. Aliasghar Javanmardi claimed a bronze at Athletics Men's Shot put F35 and Elham Salehi won a bronze medal at Athletics Javelin throw F54.
China finished top of the Paralympics medals table with 220, including 94 gold, after all events were completed on the final day of competition on Sunday.
The country has led the way at every Paralympics since Athens 2004.
Great Britain finished second in Paris with 124 medals followed by the United States with 105.
